Ella wears this gown (of a spicy green color) at her mother's funeral reception. She rebelliously chose the untraditional color because it was her mother's favorite dress of hers.
I've always loved this dress- and this scene in the book, because as someone who's gone to many family funerals, I know just how much extra sad that black dress can add. Points to Ella for bucking the trend! And points to you, dear, for that neat embroidery!
